Why Tejano Raspas?
The name itself started because I was looking for something I related to, something people could connect with, and something that made sense for the region, while still being self-explanatory. “Oh! Tejano Raspas, they sell raspas!”
Little did I know the name would end up being the perfect fit—not just for the product, but for the culture and taste we represent: Mexican-American. Tejano Raspas is more than shaved ice. It’s a reflection of who we are. It blends the culture and flavors of Mexico with the creativity and freedom of Texas. It’s a celebration of nostalgia, community, and faith.
“What makes it ‘Tejano’?”
It’s the boldness of our flavors, the warmth of our people, the faith that grounds us, and the beauty of our bicultural roots.
“What does it mean to be a Christian-based company, and why does that matter?”
Truth be told. Neither a business nor an invidual has to walk around with a sticker that says “look I’m a follower of Jesus Christ” (in reference to our “Closed on Sunday” and “Proverbs 3:5-6” slogans), Scripture actually teaches us that we will be saved from our faith not by our good acts nor by how perfect we are and definetely not by sacrifices, rather our relationship with Christ and belief in Him. At Tejano Raspas I decided to publicly proclaim Jesus because all glory and praise to Him! Although not at first but after I was saved through Christ, I’ve been led to start this business not only to make ends meet for myself and others but for a much greater cause and that is to proclaim the Good News! Tejano Raspas has been led by the Holy Spirit. My understanding cannot calculate the success of this, it really doesn’t make sense until I put God in the picture of it. Jesus Christ is not only my Lord and Savior but yours as well.
Why does this matter?
It matters to me because Christ’s teachings are: Unity, Love, Peace, Joy, Strength, Leadership, Truth, His Protection, His Word, His Provision, all of His Fruit! It’s all good things! Here at Tejano Raspas me and no one else is Jesus Christ, we’re not perfect, but as a follower of Jesus I know I need a strong foundation for the company, and I’ve been led to the strongest foundation of life! We will do our best to apply His teachings and fundamentals in all we do: from the product itself to the job environment for ALL employees.
